I understand the risk of losing our legal precision. There is a difference between precise wording in the ECJ and, sorry to say, less precise, more political jargon in Parliament. For example, the Commission’s recent work on a common frame of reference for future EU contract law, carried out exclusively in English, showed the difficulties that continental lawyers face in grasping alien UK concepts.
